Dear Friends,

On behalf of Maidenhead Rugby Club, I would like to welcome you all to the 18th Annual Youth Rugby Tournament. We are excited about the prospect of hosting you at our club for an event that gets bigger every year reflecting the growing popularity of our game. We hope the day will reflect all that is good about rugby, it's inclusive nature, the discipline it instils in our children and above all, FUN!

A tournament such as this does not happen overnight and its success is a direct result of a fantastic effort by a committed group of parents and club officials, without whom today would not be possible. I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks for the work they have put in over the past 10 months.

I would like to thank all our sponsors, Investment Partnership LLP, Hawkinsport, NatWest and WN Thomas whose support we greatly appreciate.

To all the advertisers in this year's programme we also thank you for continuing to support our club. In turn we would encourage you all to support these local businesses caring about youth rugby in the community.

We are delighted to welcome London Irish and in particular Joe Pegg from their Community Support team. London Irish are a staunch supporter of community rugby in the area and their continued partnership and backing of Maidenhead RFC's youth rugby programme is greatly appreciated. The club has generously provided free tickets to a London Irish game for all age group winning squads.

My thanks also go to all the officials helping to make our day run smoothly, to all the coaches, age group managers and of course to the referees, who this year have been provided by the Berkshire Referees Society. I hope they have an enjoyable and stress free day. Not forgetting too, the families and friends who offer such support and encouragement to the players.

Finally, please enjoy all aspects of today, the rugby, the activities and in particular the newly refurbished clubhouse, of which we are immensely proud. Today is about FUN, ENJOYMENT and FRIENDSHIP and let's hope that the true winner is RUGBY.

Mike Andrew
Tournament Director Maidenhead RFC
