Chips on the menu for confident Maids (30.01.03)

MAIDENHEAD RFC have Chippenham in their sights, as they travel to Wiltshire tomorrow (Saturday) seeking their 12th win on the trot.
Chippenham took Maids to the wire in a 22-19 nail-biter at Braywick before Christmas, but coach Andy Barron believes his side now have the ability to beat anyone in the league, home or away.
He said: “Chippenham pushed us pretty close at the beginning of the year, but we weren't the side we are now.
“Confidence is high. The pack is firing on all cylinders. The team is right and the players are fit.
“The potential is definitely there. It's just a matter of doing it on the day.”
A no-nonsense 19-10 victory over Wimborne on Saturday kept Maids’ promotion campaign on track.
But, the nine-point winning margin was narrower than Maids had hoped for.
Coach Andy Barron said: “It was close, but it shouldn't have been. We blew three clear scoring opportunities in the first 10 minutes. It was the backs' handling that let us down. The ball got to them but they didn't finish it.”
On a more positive note, he added: “We went to a place where we could easily go and lose, and we came back with a win.
“We're still winning and that's the main thing.”
