Maids seek winning habit at Abbey (10.10.02)

MAIDENHEAD'S narrow win over Chippenham on Saturday will hardly have their rivals quaking in their boots.
However, the mark of a decent side is winning games when playing badly, which describes Maids to a tee.
As chief executive Simon Edwards pointed out: “The boys know they are not playing well as a team at the moment but they are getting better each week.
"If we can get our foundations solid, which is at the set-piece scrums and lineouts, the results will come.
"I'm confident this week will be another step in the right direction.
"We're winning and not playing well, so if we do play well against someone, god help them."
Tomorrow (Saturday), Maids travel to Abbey, with high hopes for a win.
Edwards said: "The team have been working very hard in training for this one, because we need a win to stay in contention.
"We have a game in hand over Abbey and they're only one place above us in the league, so they'll be keen to win it as well.
"If they don't, their league aspirations will be out of the window.
"I'm looking forward to it, just as a spectator, and I think we'll win it."
