Maids are out for revenge (18.02.05)

THERE are scores to be settled when Penryn visit Braywick Park tomorrow (Saturday), as Maidenhead Rugby Club coach Simon Edwards holds the Cornishmen responsible for sabotaging his early season campaign.
The fiery coach said: “It's personal. They beat us down there.
“We felt we should have got a result and we didn't. And it messed up our season!”
However, despite the two sides’ relative standings in the league, Edwards is not underestimating the task in hand.
He added: “I genuinely think they’re a good side.
“They have a good set of forwards and an excellent scrum-half. If you have that you're half way there.
“They've beaten some good teams and they have far more to play for than us. It's going to be a hard game.”
Realistically, Maidenhead have little to play for, as their season was effectively ended when they beat Cheltenham two weeks ago, ensuring their survival in South West 1. And with four points to make up on the leading teams, their chances of winning a promotion play-off spot are slim to nil.
However, there is still enough light at the end of the tunnel for Edwards to retain a glimmer of hope. He said: “I don't believe its over just yet. Cinderford are playing Bridgwater this week.
“If Bridgwater lose they'll have lost five games to our six.
“Clifton and Bridgwater are both beatable. Cinderford look clear, but they are not playing well.
“If their results against each other go the wrong way, the teams at the top could hang themselves.
“And we have to be in the right position to take them on.
“You never know. There's still a chance for second spot.”
Tomorrow’s game is important for several reasons, not least for the one-minute’s silence before the game to mark the recent death of popular club fixture secretary Chris Reeves.
The day has a lighter flavour for younger rugby fans, however, as the club is holding a rugby fun day.
Edwards said: “We want to show the youngsters and their parents what it's all about.”
The fun day begins at 1pm, with the senior match kicking-off at 2.30pm.
