Coach: "Maids were mugged" (15.10.04)

A ONE-POINT defeat to unbeaten Cheltenham is no disgrace, but Maidenhead coach Simon Edwards felt justice was not done at Braywick on Saturday, in a game his side deserved to win.
He said: “On their website they (Cheltenham) said they left Maidenhead feeling like Dick Turpin.
“Obviously I was hugely pleased with our overall performance, but I’m afraid we weren’t clinical enough.
“We had enough scoring opportunities to win by 30 points, but we lost 8-7.”
Asked to pin-point the problem Edwards said: “We’re not making good decisions in key areas, and that’s what we have to address.
However, there were mitigating circumstances to help explain this latest defeat.
Edwards said: “I’ve still got four or five first-choice players missing, although maybe (judging by Saturday’s performance) they’re not first choice any more.
“And we’ve had no luck at all. Not that I want to rely on Lady Luck.”
Injuries and luck apart, the side is now in desperate need of a win to boost flagging morale.
Maids have no game this week, but return to league action with a trip to Gloucester Old Boys next week.
Edwards said: “We have got to get a win in our next game.
“Gloucester away is one of the hardest games of the season, but we have to go there and get a win, somehow or other.”
