injury crisis begins to bite (22.10.04) |
DESPITE
having a week off to rest and recuperate, Maidenhead Rugby Club travel
to Gloucester Old Boys tomorrow (Saturday) for a must-win game, with 10
first team players injured or unavailable.
Coach Simon Edwards said: We now have an injury crisis. Its
a nightmare!
This was a game we were targeting as a must win game and we still
are, but with a very depleted side.
Im a very frustrated coach, but the squad is still very buoyant.
And the team we put out will win. It has to, to get the season kick-started.
Asked what he expected from Gloucester Old Boys, Edwards said: They
will be very well drilled and have a very good scrummage.
In the rain and mud they will be an enormous side to beat. And theyll
be having it ploughed up as we speak.
But they are beatable, and if we win on Saturday with the players
we have missing, I believe we are capable with the full squad
of going unbeaten until Christmas.
