Hi Folks and thank-you for looking at MRFC (Club Mark Seal of Approval) to start off your child's rugby career. U6 is a key age group as it is often where children first decide that they like rugby....or not, so it is a very important time to get them "onside". We coaches in the U6s (all voluntary and mostly "helpful Dads") want to install the key values that Rugby provides from the very start. TEAMWORK, RESPECT, ENJOYMENT, DISCIPLINE & SPORTSMANSHIP. Most of all, in this age group, it is about having FUN FUN FUN!!!!
We try and run a planned but fun session every week. Don't expect any flowing rugby from the start but it will come. First we need to build the core skills and confidence in the children. Patience is a virtue at this age. Getting the kids to listen and concentrate is often a challenge that can be overcome in the later half of the U6 season.
