What
could your child get from playing rugby?
Your child
can start playing non-contact “tag” rugby from the age of 5. The actual
sessions are arranged in school year groupings, and develop a range of
rugby skills through fun and engaging activities. Sessions last between
1.5 and 2 hours. The kids are introduced to competitive matches from the
age of 6 with a gradual progression on to the full 15 a-side game by the
time they reach 12.
What,
Where and When?
- The season
goes from the 1st weekend in September to the 1st weekend of May
- The Sunday
sessions are either played at ‘home’ or at ‘away’ fixtures and we attend
some fantastic rugby festivals each year (we host one of the best!)
- All home
sessions are at Braywick Park (The Mini’s are in the middle of the running
track). Away fixtures are generally within the Berks/Bucks region
- Sessions
run from 10-12noon (although some festivals will go on into the afternoon)
and are run by volunteer coaches. All coaches are encouraged to follow
the formal RFU coaching pathway, the cost of which is fully funded by
the club
- Children’s
progress is tracked throughout the season culminating in our end of
season Presentation day
- Regular
communication goes out to each age group to keep you up-to-date with
news and events
- We have
strong relationships with the Premier League clubs of London Wasps and
London Irish
- The club
puts a great deal of emphasis on the safeguarding of the children. A
Safeguarding Officer, full CRB checks and training are just some of
the ways in which the club protects the children
