Christmas came early for Maidenhead 3rd's as the final game of the year produced a superb display of team rugby with Maids going into the festive break winning 30 - 5 against Aldermaston 1sts. Within two minutes Maids had their first try with a great inside ball to Gareth Williams who bashed his way over the line. Maids' forwards took control from then on. Penn Motor Company Man of the match Paul Savage led from the front with excellent contributions across the park. He was supported well by his fellow forwards who used rucks to deliver quick ball to the backs. This allowed Lester Martin to race 80 metres down the touchline to score under the post. The next try followed soon after with Mike Anthony crashing over the line. Rob Wilkins conversion was successful and when time was called for the interval maids had a 17 to 0 lead. Aldermaston were the first to strike in the second half with Maid's left wide open in broken play. The opposition spread the ball wide to score their only 5 points of the game. Maids hit straight back when Scrum half Dave Thomas picked from a ruck and dove over Aldermaston's line. Anthony went over for his second in the final stages of the game with a brilliant run shrugging of three defenders to score. Wilkins kicked a penalty leaving the home side singing in the New Year.
