Colts triumph in National Cup over Chosen Hill

Chosen Hill Colts 10 v Maidenhead Colts 14
Sunday 29th October 2006

Maidenhead went through to the next round of the National KO Cup with a win over Chosen Hill.

This victory puts them though to the third round and they will be grateful to be at home in the next round, to Old Redcliffians – Maids have had to win away twice in the West Country. Head coach John Evans is delighted that his team have come through.

Maids are very hopeful that that several major players who missed the Chosen Hill match will be fit to resume to take on Old Reds. Alex Cannon and Dave Hodgson were the try scorers against Chosen Hill, with Cannon touching down a brilliant team try and Hodgson sidestepping over after a run from scrum-half Scott Lowden. Hodgson, one of several loyal Maids back from University for the major matches, added two conversions.

The composure of the whole Maids team was remarkable, Maids made it difficult for themselves by missing chance after chance to pull clear in the first half but from full-back to loose-head prop, every Maids player played with a total refusal to be beaten. The coaches were delighted with the commitment of the replacements, who made the long journey and who did not all see action.

Maidenhead RFC would like to thanks Chosen Hill RFC for the loan of a set of shirts to replace those inadvertently left behind at Braywick. Maidenhead RFC has no comment whatsoever to add concerning the approach of Chosen Hill’s players, coaches and supporters.
