Once again a postponed league match resulted in Maids' Colts playing a hastily arranged friendly. At least this week in was a nice sunny day in Windsor's Home Park ground. Maids had a comfortable win 29-10 with Mike Burnett scoring a hat-trick of tries, with Alex Cannon and Scott Lowden adding one each. Maids' forwards had the edge in the set pieces but Windsor were competitive in the loose play. However when Maids got clean ball out to the backs then the speed of Burnett and Cannon made the difference. The first try came when scrum-half Scott Lowden spun the ball out to the backs and Burnett ran in from the half way line. The second try came from good line out work from Tom Morgan and Chris Parrot feeding Lowden to dart across the line. It was starting to look a bit one-sided when Burnett added the third but Windsor had found where their strength lay as their forwards pushed over to make it 5-15 at half-time. The second half was keenly contested if unexciting until Marcus Shah ripped the ball out of a ruck and got it away to Cannon who sprinted from his own 22 to score under the posts. Burnett converted. Burnett added his third and maintained his 100% record with the boot. Windsor didn't give up and their forwards were rewarded with another try at the end. Next week maids will have the full squad available when they take on old rivals Amersham & Chiltern in an important BBO league clash. Maids squad: |
