Maidenhead revealed impressive depth to their squad when they retained only three starters in position from the previous week’s win over Amersham in the National KO Cup, rested a crop of players, experimented with a variety of players out of position in a match squad of only the bare 15, and still hammered a heroic Welwyn Colts by 59-0. in a friendly at Braywick. There were sparkling performances from the likes of Tim Johnson, Morgan and Ash Hanks up front and from Andrew Hogan and Chris Richardson in the backs, with Chris Adam contributing a fine game in the centre after switching from scrum-half. There were three searing tries from Alex Cannon, who showed pace at full-back. Mitch Batten scored twice and other tries came from Ryan Christian, Andrew Hogan, Chris Richardson and Chris Adam. Cannon kicked seven conversions. Welwyn never gave up, and their disciplined attitude was much appreciated by the home side. Maids’ next match is a BBO League clash with Grove at Grove on Sunday Maids squad: Cannon, Compo, Christian, Adam, Hogan, Richardson, Styles; Hanks, Morgan, Ouston, Emanuel, Jones, Batten, Johnson, Knowles, Thomas. |
