Since the U8s currently have 48 players registered in the age-group, it simply wasn't possible for all players to play in our home tournament this year.
Whilst the U8 Eagles and Lions battled it out at the Maidenhead Tournament, the remaining U8 squad fielded two sides at Marlow RFC for a round robin mini tournament between Windsor, Marlow and Maidenhead teams.
Our boys did us proud. After a short training session, we had a round robin of matches between the 6 teams there (2 each from Maidenhead, Marlow and Windsor). Our Lions won the whole thing, winning 4 out of 4 in the round robin (including a match against our other team) before then beating Marlow in the final. The second Maidenhead team won the 3rd/4th place playoff.
Of the winning squad, these were the try scores: Jamie Seddon 8 Charlie Day 6 Connor Charles 6 Josh Thorley 2 Luke Thorley 2 Daniel Rayfield 1 Daniel Wilson 1 Joseph Freeman 0
The top three names were clearly in their own class, although the team as a whole gelled really well. In total the winning team scored 26 tries for and only 14 against.
For our 3rd place team the stars on the day were Seb Ward, Nathan Sams, Joshua Crook and George Downey who bagged the majority of the try count on the day. They also played so well, that their only defeat of the day was by our other Maidenhead team who went on to take the title.
