U16Bs win at Tadley

Tadley U16 7 v Maidenhead U16B 18
Berkshire Youth League

Sunday 29th January 2012

Maidenhead under 16 second 15 travelled to Tadley RFC on a very cold and misty Sunday morning, to play their second league fixture, knowing that a win against the only other side in the league with a 100% record would see them on the path to retain their league title.

The game started well, with a well drilled committed Maidenhead pack putting a lot of pressure on the larger but less mobile Tadley forwards.

The first 15 minutes were marred by handling errors of both sides, before against the run off play Tadley scored a break away try under the posts which was converted 7-0 Tadley.

Maidenhead rallied and within 5 minutes had pegged one back with fly half Patrick Bart going over in the corner, he failed to convert 7-5 Tadley.

The rest of the half was a forwards battle with little clean ball for the backs on both sides to play with. Last play of the half Maidenhead win a penalty 35 meters out, Maidenhead elect to try and get 3 points, Bart kicks it over. 8-7 Maidenhead half time.

The second half was much the same as the first however Main heads larger pool of substitutes began to make a real difference, with substitute scrum Joe going over in the first 5 minutes of the half, quickly followed by a great forward move to let Johnson M? in for a third Maidenhead try.

Maidenhead pushed for the fourth try to gain the bonus points but Tadley remained resolute to the end.

Great team performance lead by captain Callum "need a fag" Burston.

Man off the Match Jordan Flynn
