U9Bs shine at the Beaconsfield Tournament

Blue skies and a crisp morning welcomed Maidenhead U9 Bs for the Beaconsfield Festival.

Having endured some awful weather lately this was a pleasing change and our expectant squad of 13 looked forward to playing some flowing rugby and showing the full repertoire of their skills.

So it proved as Maidenhead set about the first of their 5 games with gusto casting aside local rivals Windsor with Alex S scoring a rapid hat-trick followed by a much closer encounter against Richmond that ebbed and flowed until Charlie G pounced for a late winner.

Great running and powerful support were much in evidence in the next game as Beaconsfield 3 were seen off 8-0 followed by a much tougher game against Beaconsfield which although going down 2-4 the team never gave up & impressed with their tackling and defence. Final game of the 5 was played out against Beaconsfield 2 and once more Maidenhead showed great squad strength with a 6-0 display.

All in all the coaches and parents were treated to a thoroughly positive and impressive set of performances during which the whole squad pitched in with great effort, superb team play and an excellent attitude. Let's hope we take it with us to the London Irish tournament in a few weeks time.
