U14Bs overcome Windsor to top league

Maidenhead U14B 15 v Windsor U14B 5
Berkshire U14 League Div 2

Sunday 21st March 2010

Maids U14B were hosts at Braywick to a league side from Windsor RFC on the weekend in pleasant weather conditions of sunshine.

Maids pushed Windsor into their own half in the first half of the game, inflicted enough damage to hold the game when Windsor upped the tempo in the second half demanding tough committed defending led by captain flanker Christopher Hudson.

Maidenhead B were soon dominating possession in the Windsor half and were rewarded when the backs received the ball and swung it wide to with full back Aaron Whetton finishing off the move, touching down by the right hand corner flag. Windsor fought back but conceded a penalty which Scrum half Bart was unable to convert into points. Maids then scored after half time following a series of mauls and rucks on the Windsor try line when second row Charlie Thomas spotted a hole and touched down to make the score ten nil.

Windsor, riled, replied with a try and could have taken a couple more if their fly half and inside centres had noticed that the Windsor backs achieved large overlaps around Maidenhead twice. By now the game was almost over but centre Jacob Farrel thought he'd intercept a Windsor ball and run half the pitch to touch down unopposed under the Windsor posts.

The final score was Maidenhead B 15 points, Windsor B 5.

This places Maidenhead B at the top of the Berkshire FR U14 Division 2 with all their matches played however other teams still have a backlog of matches to clear before the result can be confirmed.
