Maids return to winning ways

Wallingford III 5

Maidenhead IV 29

Saturday 17th October 2009

Maids 4ths returned to winning ways with a hard-fought 29-5 league win at home to Wallingford 3rds.

It took an unconverted try from Wallingford in the first few minutes to shake Maids from their early lethargy, but they were soon back on terms when winger Shane Watson pounced on a loos ball to kick ahead and touch down, with Maids taking a 12-5 lead when awarded a penalty try as Aaron Lambert made a similar break only to be tackled without the ball as he raced to touch down.

A strong Wallingford pack made life difficult for the home side for most of the second period, but further tries from Craig Monks and Rob Wright made the game safe, with fly-half Dave Goodman weighing in with three conversions and a penalty.
