Maids climbed to second in the league table with a 25-7 victory despite a below par performance at home to Harwell on Saturday. Only mercurial winger Aaron Lambert could hold his head up high, bagging another hat-trick of tries to take his season's tally to 11. Though Lambert touched down in the opening five minutes, the rest of the Maids side never got out of first gear and still led only 5-0 at the break. The second-half display was much better, with two more tries from Lambert and one apiece from centre Jan Weddepohl and prop Malcolm Booker, but a catalogue of uncharacteristic errors meant that the home side were unable to win by the 27-point margin that would have taken them to the top of the table. Tries: Aaron Lambert (3), Jan Weddepohl, Malcolm Booker |
