Those readers of these match reports who like to see lots of names and details of the Maidenhead scorers should stop reading now. The score line above tells it all. A Maidenhead team much weakened for the usual reasons i.e. injuries, weddings, skiing holidays and the calls made upon it by other teams, were outplayed in most departments. The line-outs were an exception where they held their own and in the set-pieces which were evenly contested. It was in open play that the damage was done. Those players that came up from the 4ths all played well but it was a day for Maidenhead of "didn'ts". Lester Martin didn't score a try, Tony Rawlings didn't get yellow carded, Paul Savage didn't lose his rag, Rob Wilkins didn't kick a penalty or conversion and Charlie Jarnett didn't miss a tackle. Redingensians did score six tries and did convert five of them. With now three games left the season is meandering to it's conclusion. Maidenhead will almost certainly be comfortably in the top half of the table which is a fair reflection of their performances to date. |
