U13s' Tournament report

Maidenhead's U13 A and B team were in action on Sunday against an A and B team from Sutton and Epsom and a team from Egham.

In league based tournament, all teams played four short games over the day with full fifteen player squads on a full size pitch.

Maidenhead's A team (Maniacs) were runners up, winning three games, losing narrowly only to the eventual winners Sutton and Epsom A. Some very good rugby was played however the team learned once again that in short game tournaments, any mistakes can cost dearly. Maidenhead dominated territory and possession in the first half and twice succeeded in gaining an overlaps with their backs players after breakdowns. Despite having this advantage and being camped along the opposition try line Maids failed to move the ball out down the line every time and the halftime score was 0-0. Maids were punished in the second half when a failed tackle allowed the visitor's right winger through to score the only try of the game. Sutton and Epsom held on to their lead after that. Maidenhead B team (Rangers) won 2 out their four games, beating both the Sutton and Epsom B team and the Egham Knights.

The winners of the competition were Sutton and Epsom 'A' with Maidenhead Maniacs as runners up.
