U11Bs host high quality quadrangular mini-tournament against Tring, Amersham and Ruislip

Maidenhead 30 - Ruislip 0
Within the first minute, some very good passing from the squad set up Alex Thompson to speed down the wing unchallenged to score number 1. Almost immediately Maids' forwards powered up to 10m from the line and Xabier Leadbetter's strong driving resulted in his try. Maids won the majority of the scrums and the backs consistently moved the ball to create space and opportunities which were exploited by both Alexs and Chris Cousins each scoring a try. Jack Nicholls and Daniel Henshaw provided great support in rucks and mauls, helping to win many balls.

Ruislip came back strongly in the second half but the determination of the forwards allowed the ball to be ripped and passed out for Chris to touch down again. Maids' forwards were denied a try as the ball was help up. New club member, Tom Wiseley, made a very good run on the wing but was frustrated 5 metres from the line by a good tackle.

Maidenhead 0 - Tring 0
Tring immediately put pressure on the home team but Maids defended superbly. Crucial tackles and clearance kicks were made by Khalid Omar and Chris respectively. Jack Nicholl's determination and strength ensured loose balls we quickly picked up and passed out. The forwards won a crucial scrum and followed by Xabier breaking lose but stopped near the line.

Through strong ripping, Sam Hoxley won the ball in the first lineout of the second half which set up a series of plays that almost resulted in a try: Laurence Jones, surrounded by the opposition, displayed some fantastic dodging and gained ground before off loading to Khalid who made a strong run before passing to Tom Kynaston. Adam Williams made some good runs to get his team closer to the try line. The Tring defence was wrong footed by an unexpected pass from Kieran Evans to Alex Thompson who was denied by a strong tackle.

Maidenhead 10 - Amersham 15
Amersham kicked off and attacked immediately but good defence from Maids and a try saving tackle from Alex Thompson, followed by good clearance kick by Tom Kynaston, repelled the opposition. A good ball from the scrum allowed Chris to almost score in a corner. Soon after Khalid intercepted an Amersham ball and broke free only to be tackled 5 metres from the line. After Amersham's first try, Maids came back hard and a fantastic team effort from all including Laurence Hull, Tom Judd, Jack Harris-Holborn, Sam Hoxley, Leo Giles and Matthew Brienza set up Tom Kynaston for a powerful run and try. Good defence by Laurence Jones and the Maids again denied Amersham just before half time.

The second half continued to be tightly contested but Amersham scored leaving Maids only a few minutes to respond. Chris found a space in the centre of the pitch and chipped the ball over Amersham's defence and left them standing. Together with Kieran and Alex Thompson running on to the ball, it was clear that one of the trio would score and again it was Alex that touched down, leaving Amersham shocked. Amersham came back hard and it was a team effort and a held up ball that kept the scores level. Maids defended magnificently for the last few minutes but were unable to prevent Amersham placing the ball on the line just before the final whistle.
