Maids U11 As were held in a tough 5-5 draw against Beaconsfield. Weakened by a couple of late injuries and fielding some new players as part of the age-group development policy, the As were still unlucky not to win a close fought game. Maids were in fact in front quickly when a well executed backs move saw them create the overlap and space for winger Julian Guy to go over in the corner. Thereafter Maids pressed hard for a second, with good breaks from Joel Greene, Will Lawrence and Scott Prince, but were not able to convert. In the second half beaconsfield re-grouped and came back stronger with some better rucking created a series of phases from which they drove over to equalise. Overall an excellent close game and good development for new boys James Millwater, Daniel Henshaw and Tom Kynaston who both gave good accounts for themselves. Maids U11 B's were well beaten by an organised B'field B team. The first half was close, with Maids turning round at 5-5 after a good try from Will Doolan, breaking clear after some good mauling work. However in the second half, the experience told and gaps appeared for Beaconsfield to capitalise. Some notable individual performances from Will Doolan, Kieran Evans and Conor Dunne |
