Maids
showed some good skills and were please to beat local rivals Henley
and Marlow on the day.
There
were no formal finals or winners for this event, just medals for competing,
the experience and a chance to be pictured with the Guinness Premiership
trophy. The boys enjoyed their day out, even when the weather turned
wet around lunchtime.
Maidenhead
V Fullerians U11B, Score 5 – 0
Alex Thompson scored for Maids in the first half, and Maids continued
to dominate, being unlucky not to score a second later on.
In the
second half Fullerians picked their game up and put Maids under pressure
but were unable to score due to some good defensive tackling, especially
from Will Doolan. Some good kicking by Chris Cousins as full back.
Maidenhead
V Amersham & Chiltern U11B, Score 0 – 5
A & C put Maids under pressure from the kick-off, but after a
good tackle from Laurence Jones, Maids were able to push A & C back
towards their line. Amersham however kept up the pressure and broke
through later to score. Laurence Jones and Will Doolan both made strong
drives towards A & C s line leading several attacks, but were unable
to convert before the half time whistle.
Maids
kicked off for the 2nd half and A & C cleared their lines. A & C again
put Maids under pressure, but Chris Cousins did a brilliant kick right
to A & Cs end of the pitch for Maids to put further pressure on, though
despite good attacking from Kieran Evans and Alex Thompson, they were
unable to score.
Maidenhead
V Windsor U11B, Score 0 –10
Despite some good tackling especially Connor Dunne, Windsor scored
a try after a few minutes and then continued to apply the pressure
Despite some further strong tackles and defence by Kieran and Khalid,
Windsor then managed a 2nd try. Maids pushed back towards Windsor’s
line with some good attacking runs by Chris Cousins and Kieran Evans.
Again just as Maids looked like they might score before the whistle
for half time was blown.
Chris
Cousins kicked off the 2nd half and Maids quickly were up by Windsor’s
line. Alex Martin looked as though he had scored but was held up by
Windsor. Despite more hard work by Maidenhead they did not manage
to score in the second half.
Maidenhead
V Henley U11B, Score: 10-0
Maidenhead had a much stronger start after kick off and were
pushing well into Henley’s half from the beginning. There were strong
runs from Chris Cousins and Kieran Evans. Maidenhead rucked well and
pushed hard towards Henley territory. Tom Kynaston put in a strong
run and scored the try that Maidenhead deserved. Maids continued run
into Henley territory before the half time whistle blew.
By the start of the second half torrential rain was falling but this
did not dampen either sides enthusiasm as Maidenhead made their presence
felt in the Henley half. James Millwater worked tirelessly to give
the backs good ball to run on. Tom Kynaston managed to push his way
through the Henley defence to score his second try. Chris Cousins
worked hard as full back with some confident catches and good kicking.
Henley did come back at Maidenhead hard, but good defence left Henley
with no score and Maidenhead with the win.
Maidenhead
V Marlow U11B, Score 20 – 0
By the start of this match both sides had been out in the wet
conditions for some time and looked by now that their enthusiasm had
been dampened. Maidenhead quickly dominated the opposition and after
a good run by Tom Kynaston and Will Doolan, Khalid Omar managed to
score. After a penalty against Marlow, Chris Cousins kicked and Alastair
Graham scoring a convincing try. Kieran Evans then followed this by
a strong run and a try.
Alex
Martin opened the scoring in the second half for Maidenhead with an
outside run. Marlow did pick their game up and put Maidenhead under
pressure near their line but Maidenhead showed great strength with
their defence to hold on for the win
