4th XV End of Season Report

The TVIL Committee met on 10th May and confirmed that Maidenhead's "Fantastic 4's" finished a very close second in TVIL 'C' on 52 points, just behind Redingensians IV, who played a 'voided' game on the last day of the season, unexpectedly reaching 53 points.

The 2008-9 season was the first time Maidenhead had put out a 4th team for several years and achieving the runners-up spot behind last season's winners at the first attempt marks a considerable success.

The target for this season was merely to put out 15 players every week, but under the captaincy of skipper Peter Hickey the 4's far exceeded this, underlining the strength in depth at Braywick at the moment. With only 3 losses in 20 games, the 4's finished the season 9 points clear of third-placed Thatcham II's, giving confidence that they will more than hold their own in BBO2 where they will playing their rugby next year.

At the end of season awards dinner the 4th team trophies were handed out as follows:

Best Player (and leading try scorer): Mike (Celtic Tiger) Sloan
Best Newcomer: Aaron (Pocket Rocket) Lambert
Most Improved: Andy (Anger Management) Raj
MVP: Paul (the Claw) Kingsley
