Sunny skies and mild spring like conditions greeted the U7s to leafy Surrey and the Guildford B Festival. After a long wait a largely inexperienced squad faced up to the first of many stiff challenges against Effingham & Leatherhead then the home team Guildford. Despite playing more battle hardened opposition Maidenhead scored some excellent tries in the early games through Alex Samber and Oliver Hooper. Superb passing and excellent support were the order of the day as all in the squad contributed to fast flowing games in which Maidenhead improved in every game they played. A long day ensued as eventual winners Reeds used all their know how in a game Maidenhead never let their heads drop & impressed with their battling qualities. Later games against near rivals Windsor & Worthing once more saw fantastic play led by Chelsea Browning and Teona Goodge plus a quick fire hat trick from late replacement Joe Palmer. With well deserved medals round their necks the U7s ended the day widely praised by the home coaches for their sportsmanship and playing the game in the right spirit. A cracking effort by all concerned.
