Maidenhead Under 15s turned in another great team performance to overcome a resolute Aldermaston in the first ever fixture between the two sides. In another first for the season, the sun put in a welcome appearance. Aldermaston battled hard but had no answer to Maids’ combination of speed, accurate passing and good support play.

James Parrott set the mood of the match by driving over the line in the opening minutes only to be held up by Aldermaston’s defence. Maidenhead eased into a 17.0 lead within the first quarter. All the team showed great commitment. Josh Turvey provided excellent support play and new recruit Greg Pay demonstrated quick hands and made numerous penetrating runs.

Aldermaston played with determination and were effective with their kicking, but they were turned over in the rucks and left too many defensive gaps. Maidenhead’s Backs and Forwards linked well to produce some great flowing moves. When Aldermaston rallied at the end of each half, the home side’s defence held firm – calmly soaking up the pressure and then kicking or running the ball out of danger. The end result was a feast of rugby with 13 tries scored and none conceded.

Tries: Charlie Wickham-Smith (4), Thomas Simpson (3), Elliott Reid (3), James Wilson, Olly Evans, Alex Jones

Conversions: James parrot (4), Thomas Simpson, Josh Turvey
