U13Bs end season on a high

Marlow U13Bs 0 v Maidenhead U13Bs 38
27th
April 2008

Maidenhead U13 B team played local rivals Marlow, away, on Sunday of the back of a closely fought loss at Saracens and a draw against Bracknell A team in the previous 2 weeks.

With confidence growing in every game, Maidenhead started strongly and, within 5 minutes, were ahead with a well worked try built over four phases finishing with Matthews touching down in the corner. Maidenhead dominated the set pieces and Bourne took three consecutive scrums against the head having been given a strong platform by Hoxley and Warner. This gave "pick and go" expert Matt Martin, captain, the ball he wanted to put immediate pressure on Marlow's back row. Once again from forward domination Targett went over for the backs. Jack Targett converted his own try and Maids led 0-12 at half time.

Marlow started the second half aggressively and had Maidenhead pinned on their own line but Maids defended well and released Alex Brown running from their own 22. Brown accelerated clear of the defence and ran 75 metres to score under the post. Minutes later new fly half Target, supplied with plenty of ball cut back to his forwards only to exploit a gap which saw him too score under the posts for his second try of the afternoon. The forwards continued to dominate and it was fitting to see both Martin and Preston round off the match with two driving tries. Final score Marlow 0 Maidenhead 38
