U12 A versus Reading Abbey Pool game 3
Abbey player
for player had a larger pack but were held out by good defending by
George Kinglsey and Lee Neal. Maidenhead started to stutter and following
a scrum on the Maidenhead line, Abbey pushed the ball down their backs
line and took a try and conversion. A good solo run by P Watts gave
Maids a good attacking line out on the Abbey 5 yard line. Maids' back
line delivered the ball to let Captain Ruth Dow race across the Abbey
line for a spectacular high speed try. Coach Graham said terrific!
Conversion by Patrick Bart. From a final scrum in the last minute,
on the Abbey 22, centre Owen Langstone scored an outstanding try,
powering over the line, towing two defenders. Conversion by Captain
Ruth Dow. Final Score Maidenhead 14, Reading Abbey 7.

U12A
Cup Final versus Windsor
The final
of the A tournament turned out to be a local derby game for Windsor
and Maidenhead. In the first half a determined and quick Windsor kicked
and ran the ball around Maids, scoring the first try easily. This
galvanised Maids' resolve and they raised their game . To Windsor's
credit they did not miss a tackle and kept Maids out in the first
half, limiting Maids' ability to give their backs any lasting possession.
In the second half, Maids improved their territorial advantage and
Owen Langstone was able to take the ball over the try line after a
solid push from the Maids' forwards. Conversion by Peter Watts. Final
score Maidenhead 7 Windsor 7.
This
unusual situation in a final resulted in both teams winning the U12
A tournament and receiving a trophy each.
