U10s entertain three teams at home

11th November 2007

With the Maidenhead U10 A team away at the Saracens Tournament the remainder of the U10 squad were facing three visiting teams at home.

First up were Amersham and Chiltern. Maidenhead got off to a fine start and had much of the possession for the first quarter of the game. However, a few simple mistakes and some very good play by the visitors turned the game against Maidenhead. Xavier Leadbetter made a very good run resulting in him scoring a try, but it was not enough. Final score Maidenhead 1 - Amersham and Chiltern 7.

Next came Ruislip. Alastair Graham charged off to score a try within the first minute of the game. Chris Cousins then came close to scoring, but was forced into touch. A turbo charged Alastair Graham took the ball over for his second try of the match. Not content to let Alastair have all of the glory, Chris Cousins ran the length of the pitch to score. Ruislip raised their game and looked like scoring, but a determined Maidenhead kept the visitors at bay. Final try came from a powerful Xavier Leadbetter. Final score Maidenhead 4 - Ruislip 0.

Final game was against local rivals High Wycombe. Whilst Maidenhead had most of the possession in this match, there were times when they had to defend hard. Chris Cousin made a very good run, but a forward pass denied Maidenhead a try. Umar Marriot made a charging run, but High Wycombe held out. The only try in the match came from a run by Will Hogan. He ran a through most of the opposing team and was close to the line when he was tackled, but a perfect offload gave Alex Thompson a well deserved try. Final score Maidenhead 1 - High Wycombe 0.

It's easy to pick out the try scorers in these games, but in truth the whole squad played very well. So congratulations to all of the players.
