U9s' great rugby v Abbey and Chippenham

Last Sunday saw both Reading Abbey and Chippenham visit Maidenhead U9s to provide a morning full of some great rugby.

Maidenhead A's first match was a hard fought battle against Abbey A's. An excellent run and passing from Scott Prince to Abigail Dow provided the first try, followed by great tackling from Will Lawrence and running from Dow to give her a brace. Excellent all round tackling and ripping helped Joel Greene earn Maidenhead a 15-10 win.

The match against Chippenham A's was a very evenly balanced and both teams worked hard, tackled well and with some superb runs gaining a try each from Dow and Lawrence. The final score was 10 points all.

Strong runs from Orson Copeland and Reggie Pay, with good tackling and support from the whole Maidenhead squad provided for a convincing 30-5 win. Try scorers were Jack Nicholls, Pay (2), James Millwater, Sasha Gill and Jonathan Matthews.

Chippenham were several players short of a second squad so a barbarian team was assembled. The first half was very evenly matched and a fantastic break from Gill leveled the score however close to the end of the match the barbarians scored again to win 5-10.
