U14s hit by Old Darts

Maidenhead U14s 10 v Old Dartfordians U14s 24
Sunday 25th February 2007

It was a game of two halves for Maids as the boys hosted touring side Old Dartfordians in a friendly on Sunday. The visitors eased to a 17.0 half-time lead, thanks largely to poor tackling and an inability to retain possession in the rucks by the boys as they tried to co-ordinate their efforts.

But, as ever, the team refused to bow under pressure and gained in confidence as the match progressed. As the visitors flagged Maids picked up the pace and worked their way back into the match.

In a much more even second period, the passing and tackling showed great improvement. James Brooks put the first points on the board for the home side with a penalty before Oliver Evans charged through under the posts following good build-up work. James added the extras. Although Old Darts replied with a converted try, the boys held on to win the second period 10.7.
