Under 12s took part in a triple header at Redingensians on Sunday with the entire squad playing in combined games against the hosts and Henley. Both teams performed well on what turned out to be a rather fractious day with a little bad feeling being shown on the field between teams in highly competitive mood. The play was a little lacklustre and the scores reflected this but with only 3 tries scored in total this wasn’t a totally engaging performance. But the play was a little marred by some inconsistent refereeing decisions which served to restrict play and de-motivate players on the field. But all in all the teams performed well with no one shining out particularly. The forwards could have been a little more aggressive and the backs a little faster but that is being picky! Certainly with refereeing decisions marring the flow of play the mid season sluggishness is just a part of the game… We have another triple header with Wycombe and Slough at home…maybe a referees briefing before the game might make for more consistency? |
