| The Maidenhead
A and B teams of the Under 9s
competition came away with the winners trophy
giving excellent performances on the day. Both sides
showed great improvement in the speed and impact of their
tackling, and the pace with which they back up the player
with the ball. The B competition had some astonishing high scores, with the Windsor-Winchester game ending 50-30 (and the games were only 14 minutes long). There is great strength and depth in the Maidenhead Under-9s, and they could easily have put out two A sides. This is illustrated by the fact that the B team clocked up 150 points in their four matches, winning all of their games easily and conceding only two tries. The A team also played very well against stiff opposition. They won all of their matches except the one against Windsor, which they drew 5-5. The 10 games between Maidenhead, Cleve, Haslemere, Winchester and Windsor were all tight, with only two matches having more than a one-try margin. The guest teams in the competition were Haslemere, Winchester, Windsor, Cleve, Ruislip (A competition only). A squad: Ben Alderson, William Ansell, Chris Cameron, Joe Davidson, Jordan Foster, Gordon Harris, Rory Harte, Chris Heley, Duncan James, Hugh OConnor, Alex Pegg, Oscar Thomson B squad: Miles Ashton, Patrick Boyd, William Cadden, Morgan Davies, Charlie Johnson, Connor McCarthy, Richard OReilly, Felix OSullivan, Phillip Roberts, Callum Thomas, Jake Ward, Jonathan Wright |
