Last Sunday saw Maidenhead U7s hosting teams from Bath and Ealing. There was some great rugby played with the hard work over the past few months really paying dividends. Maidenhead As first match was against Ealing As and after conceding a couple tries they knuckled down and ended up winning 7 tries to 5 due to good support work and passing skills. The A's then went on to beat both of the Bath teams with 5 tries to 2 against Bath Yellows and 7 tries to 2 against Bath Reds. The Yellows was a tighter game than the score suggests but Maidenhead's defence was solid with excellent tagging. The A's try haul for the day was Abigail Dow (5), William Lawrence (4), Scott Prince (4), Joel Greene (2), Oliver McGregor (2), Ben Lawrence(1) and Liam Cook (1). |

Maidenhead B's also had a great day characterised by phenomenal team spirit and determination. They came within a whisker of being unbeaten. Their first match against Ealing Bs was a thrilling 5 all draw. After beating Bath Reds 5 tries to 2 there was a nail biter match against Ealing A's with the each team taking turns at leading the score board by no more than a couple of tries. The Yellows just managed to score in the last second of the game to win 9 tries to 8. The B's try haul for the day was Alex Sutton (5), Sasha Gill (5), Christopher Cousins (4), Jonathan Mathews (3), Tom Kynaston (2), Kieran Evans (1) and Marley Neville-Lister (1). Maidenhead C's played a couple of fun matches against the far more experienced Bath Yellows and Ealing B teams. Although going down 6 tries to 2 and 7 tries to 3, the spirit of the kids was great. Special mention for some great runs goes to James Millwater and for determination to Adam Cullen. Harry Wells played great in his debut match, sharing the top try scoring honours. The C's try haul was Harry Wells (2), James Millwater (2) and Adam Cullen (1). |
