Last Sunday saw Maidenhead U7s visiting Henley. Despite the chilly weather it was great fun and most of the matches were pretty close runs. The focus in support work in recent training sessions paid off well with quite a number of players making the score sheet. Maidenhead fielded a Lions and Tigers team. Maidenhead Lions won their first match 3-2 with tries coming from Oliver McGregor, and a brace from Ben Lawrence who made several great runs. The second match was won 2 tries to 1 with tries going to Scott Prince and Joel Greene. The last match should really have been won, but some avoidable errors lost valuable chances resulting in a tight battle, eventually going down 3 tries to 2. Both tries came from Scott Prince. The match featured some great defensive work from both sides. Maidenhead Tigers took a while to warm up, going down 6 tries to 2 in the first game with the honours going to Myles Williamson and Tom Kynaston. The team started to work together a lot better in the second game with some good runs and defensive work, however ended with a 5 tries to 3 loss. Try scorers were Sasha Gill, Tom Kynaston and Alex Conchie. For the last match, the Tigers really rallied their spirits and started to roar, winning 3 tries to 2 with the tries coming from Tom Maclean, Tom Kynaston and Kieran Evans. |
