Depleted U15s still too good for Newbury

Newbury U15s 10 v Maidenhead U15s 24

Sunday 23th January 2000

WITH Maidenhead under 15s missing four key players they produced a fine tearn performance to win their league match against Newbury under 15s by 24-10.

Maidenhead opened the scoring after 10 minutes when the forwards won good ball in the Newbury 22 and James Appleton made a break in the centre which resulted in Alexander Kent going over for a try near the posts.
Newbury hit back quickly when Maids failed to clear the ball from their 22. The Newbury left wing broke two tackles and scored in the corner.

Like the first half Maids started well in the second half and were soon in the Newbury 22 after a good kick by Daryl Brady and chase from the speedy Dan Evans.
Due to this pressure Newbury conceded a penalty which Maids took quickly and White broke through two tackles to score. Brady converted for a 12-5 advantage.
Within a minute of Maids' try Newbury pounced on the ball near the Maids line after some slack play to score.
Again Maids forced Newbury back when and after a fine tackle from Alex Rakauskus, Maids won the ball and James Appleton showed good strength to score under the posts which was converted by Brady.
Maids now scored again when Filmore changed over for a well-deserved try to finish the scoring.
