U15s victorious at Amersham & Chiltern

Amersham & Chiltern U15s 12pts v Maidenhead U15s 15pts
Sunday 6th November 2005

In attrocious conditions, Maids played a determined and clever game to beat Amersham & Chiltern 15 - 12

With the wind, rain and mud all heading to one corner of the pitch, it was unsurprising that all the game's tries were scored in the same corner. With Maids down to 14 men because of a yellow card, A&C increased their 7 point lead to 12 with a long kick and chase

Having battled the elements for the first half and some very strange decisions by the ref, Maids turned round 12 - 0 down but now with the elements in their favour. With open rugby all but impossible the Maids forwards took control and set up several phases of play to put them in a position for Matt Powell to roll off the back of a maul and charge over from 5 yards.

With Billy Evans kicking for position whenever A&C gained ground, Maids forwards kept good control of the ball, this time driving Powell over for his second try. By this time it was so wet and windy, the boys were so muddy that I cannot remember who scored the last try - but by this point I was looking forward to the bar and discussing the attributes of our team with the opposition coaches.

A good performance by Maids showed that they are beginning to use their heads as well as their undoubtable skills
