| MAIDENHEAD under 14s were away to
their old rivals, Marlow, and put on a good show of rugby
with a well deserved 41-10 win. Maids started well with a Dale Taylor try,
well converted by Scott Harris.
Maidenhead regained possession after the kick-off and
passed the ball out but a knock-on gave Marlow possession
following the scrum.
The ball was dropped by Marlow and Mark O'Haire collected
it to score with another good conversion by Harris.
Marlow fought back before the break and scored a try of
their own.
Marlow kicked off the second half
with Liam Henwood catching the ball but was overpowered
losing possession until Maidenhead was given a short
penalty.
Despite this Marlow regained possession and broke through
a lacklustre defence to score.
Following the re-start the Maids gained ground finally
winning a scrum five with the ball passed out to Taylor
who side-stepped Marlow's defence to score.
Mark O'Haire then intercepted a pass and, following some
good handling by the backs, the ball was passed out to
Andrew McEwan who was tackled as he crossed the line and
had the try disallowed.
Maidenhead won the resultant scrum with the ball passed
to Billy Price who dived over to bring the score to
24-10.
Marlow re-started with Alex Hughes catching the ball and
taking it forward until tackled, but Maids kept
possession with good play by Taylor resulting in the ball
being passed out to James O'Reilly who scored.
Another two tries, with Taylor showing a quick turn of
speed and a charge over the line by Jay Marshall, brought
the final score to 41-10.
