First defeat in home loss
Sunday 26th September 1999
| There was a first defeat of the
season on Sunday for Maidenhead under 13s when they went
down at home 22-12 to Warlingham. Despite Maids' good start the visitors soon took control and an early injury to Neill, forcing his retirement, meant a reshuffle in the backs. Warlingham seized the initiative and ran the ball wide for their right winger to score easily in the corner. Five minutes later the visitors doubled their score to 10-0. It was no surprise when Warlingham extended their lead to 15 points with a smart try just before half-time. The second half saw Maids rally and with Daniel Fair at fly half there was a more expansive look about their play. Fair's well-timed pass allowed centres Rubber and Standfast to make valuable ground, and left wing David Geneen timed his run to perfection for a well deserved try. The home side then slipped back into first half mode, giving up a soft try. |
