The U13s demonstrated the strength and commitment of their squad in this triangular fixture on a bitterly cold Sunday, notching up 13 tries and leaving visitors Marlow and Chesham to return home empty-handed. Both games showed how far the boys have developed in terms of cohesive teamwork, willingness to make their tackles count and playing for each other. Maidenhead U13s
57 0 Chesham U13s Rory Creffield set Charlie Wickham-Smith up for the opening try. A long run from Paul Sayers was finished off by James Parrott, who provided excellent supporting cover. Tom Simpson’s conversion made it 12.0. Sayers’ swerves and feints were too much for the opposition for the next try. Another well-struck Simpson conversion made it 19.0. Rory Creffield raised one of the biggest cheers of the day by scoring his first senior-level try in a Maidenhead shirt. Simpson’s kicking was improving all the time and he sent another conversion flying between the posts. Oliver Evans nipped in with a typical darting run down the flanks and Sayers converted this time. The whole team showed very good movement and organisation, quick hands and spread the ball very well. The second period started with another excellent team try. Wickham-Smith won possession in the maul and clipped the ball to Sayers , who sent Ben Pritchard on his way. George Kirk provided the overlap and quickly set the ball back to Pritchard to carve open the defence. Simpson scored and converted to push the score up to 45.0. Connor Murphy, Tristan Cadden and Elliot Reid all made good contributions. An angled drive upfield from Morgan Davies created another opening for Wickham-Smith to power down the pitch for his second. Kirk’s tireless running throughout the match paid dividends as he completed another flowing sequence of play with Michael Habgood and Sayers to score the final try. Maidenhead U13
Bs 20 0 Marlow U13 Bs Thomas Simpson used his speed to evade flailing Marlow tackles and completed a great run to score Maids’ second try. Alex Jones made it 15.0 before half time. Daniel Tydeman and Sam Yates were effective in the mauls. Matt Robert provided the perfect lay off to George Kirk, who made it 20.0 soon after the restart. The boys were able to dominate possession, recycled the ball well and the forwards got to the breakdown quickly. |
