U13s' forwards dominate against Windsor Maidenhead U13s 17 Windsor U13s 0 Sunday 3rd December 2000 Maidenhead U13s put their league defeat against Redingensians behind them with an excellent 17-0 victory over Windsor which was more convincing than the final score suggests. Windsor put up tenacious defence and battled until the end but almost the whole match took place deep in Windsor territory and at least eight Maidenhead movements ended within inches of the Windsor line. Maidenhead's forwards gave an outstanding display, dominating the scrums and far more hungry for the loose ball. Patrick McSweeney had his best game of the season in the scrums and loose play and Tom Plumer's aggression also stood out. Maidenhead's chief problem lay in the choice of when to take the ball on and when to offload to a support player, something on which the coaches will be working hard before the next match. Behind the scrum, Ryan Christian's strong running made an impression and the calmness of Sam Stefan at full-back ensured that Windsor's kicking game was easily dealt with. Tom Kay, Maidenhead's No 8, added to his impressive try-scoring record with another two and Joe Thomas, the second row, added the third. Alasdair Bruce kicked one conversion Team |
