11s travelled to Amersham and Chiltern on Sunday 23rd
for a Triangular fixture with the hosts and Windsor RFC. The Bs opened proceedings against Amersham and Chiltern Bs and soon found themselves a try down despite having the best of the early play. Maids fought back with some excellent handling skills and they started to move the ball confidently and swiftly towards the Amersham try line. It was only a matter of time before Gordon Harris levelled the score. Amersham came back hard and again took the lead only for Johnny Gnasher Naish to power his way to Maidenheads second try. Maids were now on a high and were winning mauls with strong play and support from the forwards. Greg Manning and Hugh O'Connor added a try each before Amersham pulled one back to make the score 20-15 in Maidenheads favour. Sparked by conceding a try we saw some exceptional tackling and superb running which culminated with Riku Tsujiyama grabbing his first try of the game and Harris bagging his second. Although Amersham fought hard and reduced the lead Maidenhead came out worthy winners, 30-25. Squad: Connor McCarthy, William Cadden, Greg Manning, Rowan Burnett, Riku Tsujiyama, Gordon Harris, Matthew Fry, Johnny Naish, Dominic Hedouin, Patrick Boyd, Thomas Pettigrew, Jonathon Wright. Maidenhead As were then in action against Amersham and Chiltern As and a single squad from Windsor. Both games were fiercely contested and with some passionate play from both sides. In their opener with Amersham the home side were 10-0 up with half time approaching. William Cadden spotted a gap in the Amersham defence and powered through it to make it 10-5. Maidenhead kept the pressure on and Rory Harte released Thomas Hudson who levelled the score at half time. In the second half both sides moved the ball with confidence and despite some stout defence from the Maids they were unable to prevent Amersham from winning the game in the closing minutes. The final score being 15-10 to Amersham. The final game saw Maids pitched against a hungry Windsor side. Windsor had the weight advantage and used it well in the scrum. The half time score was level at 0-0 which indicated the close balance of the game. The second half was just as exciting and Maids were unlucky not to take the lead on several occasions. Windsor managed to get the ball over the line following an extended period of pressure and eventually came out winners 5-0. Squad: Hannah Edwards, Tom Hudson, William Ansell, Phillip Roberts, Rory Harte, Chris Heley, Oscar Thomson, Ben Alderson, Jordan Foster, Hugh OConnor, George Shannon, William Cadden |
