U10s success at the Maidenhead Tournament

Both A and B teams repeated previous success at their home tournament with the A’s winning for the third consecutive year and the B’s gaining runner up medals this time round.

He A team conceded only two tries all day and where in magnificent form following their final defeat at Cobham the previous Sunday. The fist match against Haslemere ended 15 – 5 to Maids with notable tries from William Western-Kaye and good defensive work from Zak Thomas and James Crichton. Next were Winchester who were convincingly beaten 30 – 0 with Warren Bishop and Graeme Loveday getting onto the score sheet for Maids.

The toughest game on Sunday for Maids was against Cleve but Andrew Mudge managed to find plenty of gaps in a soon broken defence to score a hat-trick before half time. Sean Delaney played a major part for Maids in this match as his incessant tackling gave Cleve little chance to move the ball forward. The game ended 20-0 to Maids.

Local rivals Windsor where next to experience the superior play of a Maids team who now had the winners trophy firmly insight. At half time Maids where 25-0 up with William Scofield and Michael Jones adding their names to the score sheet. The game was stopped early in the second half under the 30 point advantage rule and Maids declared winners. The last match of the day which Maids had to at least draw to lift the winners trophy saw the rest of the team adding their names to score sheet with tries from Jamie Watts, Josh Jackson, and Oliver Headley all contributing to the 35 – 5 final score line.

The B team missed out on their trophy but were very credible runners up in their section to Winchester. Notable performances where put in by Matthew Powell for excellent driving play along with Daniel Roberts, Joe Bough, Billy Evans, Gregory Carlyle, and Josh Radley who scored tries for the Maids team. In support where, James Henderson, Elliot Moore, Harry Ayre, Callum Duffy, Thomas Brooks, Billy Thompson, Matthew Bedford, Nick Williams and James Ward.
